DAY 1 — MEDITATE | הגה hagah
To utter, groan, speak, devise. To chew on like a lion does to their prey. Scripture is worthy of our time. We read it. We speak it out loud. We attend to it. We allow it to make it’s home in us.

DAY 2 — TEACHING | ΓιΓασκαλία didaskalia
Instruction, teaching, education. Scripture has a lesson that needs to be learned. A doctrine that needs to be understood. We only know how to behave, when we understand what we believe.

DAY 3 — REBUKING | į¼Ī»ĪµĪ³Ī¼ĻŒĻ‚ elegmos
Reproof, conviction, discipline. To expose for the purpose of ā€œsetting it right.ā€ Scripture goes in like a soul-autopsy, looking for the cause of death and decay in our lives. It identifies the root cause and properly categorizes it as sin.

DAY 4 — CORRECTING | į¼Ļ€Ī±Ī½ĻŒĻĪøĻ‰ĻƒĪ¹Ļ‚ epanorthōsis
Improvement, restoration, revival. If rebuking points out the problem, correcting gets us back on track. Scripture takes what is broken and helps rebuild towards it’s intended design. Like the prodigal son, scripture brings us back to the Father.

DAY 5 — TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS | παιΓεία paideia
Rearing a child, discipline, upbringing into maturity. Scripture raises us from immaturity into maturity. The imagery here is one of parents raising children. It’s an everyday influence and authority that raises us up into right living before God.

DAY 6 — DOING, NOT JUST HEARING | ποιηταὶ poiētai
We are not just hearers or learners, but doers of God’s Word, living out in His power how He is transforming us to be.

Take a moment to be still, become aware of God’s presence with you, and ask God to reveal His truth to you.
2. Time in the Word
Read the Bible passage for this week slowly and out loud three times. Let God’s word sink in.  Prayerfully ask, reflect and answer these questions:  What is God saying? What do I know about the original context or audience? What are all the implications? What is this scripture making me feel and think? What ideas/words stand out? How would you summarize this section in your own words?
3. Time in Prayer
Spend time asking God: What is the Spirit bringing to my attention? What is standing out to me?

4. Put it Into Practice
Psalm 119:11 instructs us to store God’s Word in our hearts so that we won’t sin. Identify a verse or part of this passage that you’d like to have sink into your life and start to memorize it.
